The Elevation Church in Charlotte, North Carolina is home to the modern worship band Elevation Worship. The band also travels the United States regularly and conducts worship during weekend services at Elevation Church.

History

Elevation Worship was established in 2007 at Elevation Church in Charlotte, North Carolina under the direction of Wade Joye and Chris Brown. Before their deal with Essential Records, the band self-released four albums. The Sound (formerly titled Elevation Church Live) was published in 2007, We Are Alive (2008), God With Us (2009), and Kingdom Come (2010). Kingdom Come, the album including the hit single “Give Me Faith,” debuted at No. 5 on the Heatseekers list, No. 42 on the Independent Albums chart, and No. 17 on the Christian Albums chart on the Billboard 200.

For the Honor, the band’s first studio album was released on the Essential Records label by Sony Music Nashville on November 21, 2011. It reached the top spot on the Heatseekers list, the top 19 on the Christian Albums chart, and the top 193 on the Billboard 200.

Nothing Is Wasted, the band’s second album for Essential Records, was out on February 19, 2013. It was released as a deluxe edition that included studio versions of each song. It also did well on the charts, debuting at the top of the Christian Albums list and peaking at No. 41 on the Billboard 200.

Released on January 14, 2014, Only King Forever debuted at No. 23 on the Billboard 200 and included guest vocals by Darlene Zschech of Hillsong Worship.

The band’s fourth studio album, Wake Up the Wonder, was captured live at the Spectrum in Charlotte on August 1, 2014. On November 25 of that year, it hit shelves. Album opened at #58 on Billboard 200 and #1 on Billboard’s Christian Albums list. Again using Time Warner Cable Arena as the location for a live album recording, Elevation Worship Records released their fifth studio album, Here as in Heaven, on July 31, 2015. On the US album charts, it debuted at number one after its release on February 5, 2016. After being recorded at Elevation Ballantyne during the church’s revival, “Code Orange Revival,” their fifth album, There Is a Cloud, was released on March 17, 2017.

Following the success of There Is a Cloud, on August 18, 2017, Elevation Worship published their debut Spanish album, titled Lo HarásOtraVez. The album reached position two on the Billboard Latin Albums list in the United States. Hallelujah Here Below, the eleventh live album by Elevation Worship, was released on September 28, 2018, and was nominated for the 2019 Best Contemporary Christian Music Album Grammy.

The redesigned album Paradoxology by Elevation Worship, with new renditions of songs like “Here Again,” “Echo,” and “Won’t Stop Now” from Hallelujah Here Below, was released on April 12, 2019. ‘With You was the single featured on Paradoxology. On July 19, 2019, Elevation Worship published their second Spanish album, titled Aleluya (En La Tierra). The Latin Album Sales in the United States peaked at number eight. Their eighth extended play, titled At Midnight, came out on the 30th of August, 2019.

Lake Brandon, Brandon (musician)

Originally from the United States, Michael Brandon Lake serves as a worship pastor, worship leader, and worship artist for the Christian community. Lake leads worship at Seacoast Church in Charleston, South Carolina, and is also a part of the Maverick City Music collective. After launching a successful crowdfunding effort to make an album in 2015, Lake released his first studio album, Closer, independently in 2016.

Lake’s first release for Bethel Music was a cover of “This Is a Move” by Tasha Cobbs Leonard, which was released in January 2019. As a result of his work as a lyricist on “This Is a Move,” Lake was honored with the 2019 GMA Dove Award for Gospel Worship Recorded Song of the Year. Lake received his first Grammy Award nomination for Best Gospel Performance/Song for “This Is a Move” at the upcoming 2020 Grammy Awards. The songs “I Need a Ghost,” “Just Like Heaven,” and “Gratitude” all came from his sophomore studio album House of Miracles, which he released in 2020.

On Billboard’s Top Christian Albums list in the United States, House of Miracles debuted at position #22. In addition, he was featured on the top two peaking track “Grave into Gardens lyrics” by Elevation Worship, which debuted at number one on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 list in the United States and was the first number one single on the Hot Christian Songs chart for both artists.

Lake’s collaborations with Elevation Worship, Maverick City Music, and Chris Tomlin on “Talking to Jesus” and “I See You” were among the highlights of 2021, the year he recorded the track “Too Good to Not Believe” with Bethel Music. Additionally, Lake was nominated for seven 2021 GMA Dove Awards, taking in two: Songwriter of the Year and Worship Album of the Year. “Graves become Gardens” won the year’s best-recorded song.

Our God is powerful and worthy of praise, and the hymn “Grave Into Gardens lyrics” is a testament to that fact. It’s an anthem that boldly proclaims God’s unwavering commitment to each individual. All of us face the possibility of holding a funeral for a goal in which we previously placed great stock.
